Things have warmed up a little around here lately, so we headed off on a last-minute trip to Central Otago – where warm weather is usually even warmer! – over the Labour Day weekend.

Clutha Gold bike trail
This past weekend, Tom and I got out onto our bikes and headed off on a nearby trail. In Central Otago, the Clutha Gold bike trail is a relatively easy ride of just under 75 km along the lovely Clutha river between Roxburgh and Lawrence.
With the weather looking relatively good (for autumn!), we drove out to Lawrence early on Saturday morning where a friendly transfer from Lawrence Bike Transfers were ready to ship us and our bikes out to Roxburgh Village and the start of the trail.
Rails and whales
Nope, not Ruby on Rails – Rail Trails! That’s right, we’ve done some bike riding!
First, we did a section of the Otago Central Rail Trail which was pretty magnificent. It was really pretty, and quite hot out in Central – it just seems to be at least a few degrees warmer at all times! Continue reading Rails and whales
Pirinexus Ruta Report
A few months ago, my lovely friend Nicole told me she was coming to Europe – specifically to Spain. This was of course very exciting because she would be super close and we could catch up together. The last time I saw Nicole we were exploring Oslo together and we had such a great time, she’s one of my favourite people to travel with: so calm, friendly and happy to take a chance.
Not long after giving me some vague details about her plans, she asked if Tom and I would be interested in doing a bike tour, to which we responded with a healthy “YES PLEASE”. After looking at a few route options, Nicole suggested the Pirinexus Ruta and that’s how we found ourselves cycling through the Pyrénées from Spain to France in May.
Riding to work: Before Sunrise edition
There are many great things to love about cycling to work and home again. I love that I don’t have to worry about public transport breakdowns or traffic. I like the brief exercise (I only have a relatively short ride!) to start and end the work day. Continue reading Riding to work: Before Sunrise edition
