Work in progress

The first really exciting piece of news lately is that I’ve recently begun working at Teads, a video advertising specialist. The company is a huge local success story of innovation and the regional tech industry.

My role, which I began two weeks ago, is as a support engineer. I’ll be helping our internal and external clients manage the technology implementations and provide solutions to any problems they might have.

After two weeks, I’m still really excited to get up and go to work every day: the team has been very patient and understanding as I slowly get to grips with the technology and integrations. The platform itself is pretty interesting and the problems I’ve been seeing have some interesting solutions.

I’m looking forward to learning more and being a part of a really special team.

Stockholm Report

It’s been a busy few weeks with lots of travelling (in fact, I’m away right now as well!), but they have all been really exciting trips to see places we’ve never been to before. I was excited to visit Stockholm to compare it to other Scandinavian cities we’ve visited (Oslo, Copenhagen).

While I really liked the city and there were lots of fun things to do, I didn’t really find it that beautiful, so the camera stayed in my bag most of the time! Nevertheless, we packed a lot into a short trip.

Porto and Primavera Sound Report

After an amazing cycling trip through the Pyrénées, we had a couple of weeks to recover then it was straight out west to Porto, Portugal for NOS Primavera Sound festival. We had initially toyed with the idea of attending the Barcelona event, but settled on Porto for two reasons: one, we had never been to Porto; and two, the festival was slightly more intimate with fewer stages and bands.

Porto is beautiful; full of beautiful tiled buildings, great food and a really weird public transport ticketing system…

Pirinexus Ruta

Pirinexus Ruta Report

A few months ago, my lovely friend Nicole told me she was coming to Europe – specifically to Spain. This was of course very exciting because she would be super close and we could catch up together. The last time I saw Nicole we were exploring Oslo together and we had such a great time, she’s one of my favourite people to travel with: so calm, friendly and happy to take a chance.

Not long after giving me some vague details about her plans, she asked if Tom and I would be interested in doing a bike tour, to which we responded with a healthy “YES PLEASE”. After looking at a few route options, Nicole suggested the Pirinexus Ruta and that’s how we found ourselves cycling through the Pyrénées from Spain to France in May.

Le Tech, France

Doors and Windows

Well, well, well. What a dramatic previous post that was! I’m really not usually one for melodrama, I promise.

The big news I suppose is that I’m no longer working at the software development company in St Gély du Fesc, which was a pretty big bummer at the time. However, it’s pretty much worked out pretty great – I’ll be starting a new role with one of Montpellier’s biggest tech success stories. More info on that after I start at the end of July!
